Square Art

Most of what Tim paints is square. It is the shape he keeps coming back to: no top or bottom to argue about, no landscape-or-portrait decision to make, just a block of colour that has to hold its own. The abstracts and the animals are here in equal measure. See the large formats.

Why a square works

A square hangs well where a rectangle struggles: above a low sideboard, in a narrow alcove, between two doors, or repeated in a grid of three or four. It also scales without changing character. The same painting reads as a quiet accent at 30 x 30 cm and as the main event at 135 x 135 cm.

Sizes and materials

Square canvas prints run from 30 x 30 cm up to 135 x 135 cm. On fine art paper the square sizes are 50 x 50, 70 x 70 and 100 x 100 cm.
