royal-canvas-print-limited-edition
Royal | Canvas Print | Limited Edition

A white rabbit in black sunglasses sits on a throne at the top of its own steps, soaking up a blazing sun as if the whole sky had been arranged for its benefit. Only 50 or 25 canvases will exist, depending on size, each one with its own edition number.

Long ears up, chin raised and paws resting on the armrests, the rabbit sits very upright on a broad yellow and white throne. Two tall posts rise behind it, each topped with a round finial with a zigzag rim, and gold tassels hang on either side. The throne and its steps are one solid piece, and the rabbit's feet rest firmly on the step below, as if it has no intention of getting up any time soon.

Up in the right corner, a huge orange sun swirls and glows, washing everything below in yellow that fades towards a pale cream on the left. The black sunglasses seem to be doing a lot of work here. Whether the rabbit is ruling a kingdom or just working on its tan is hard to say, but it looks entirely convinced that both count as a royal duty.

Royal takes its seat in Big, Bold & Bonkers: big art, bad behaviour and absolutely no apologies. The collection brings together gloriously ridiculous characters with questionable morals, oversized personalities and a rather impressive opinion of themselves, in bold colours with dark humour and a healthy disregard for good taste. It exists only as oversized canvas prints, because some nonsense deserves to be taken very seriously.

Royal is available in two sizes, each produced in a strictly limited edition:

100 × 100 cm / 40 × 40 in - Worldwide edition of 50

135 × 135 cm / 53 × 53 in - Worldwide edition of just 25

Each print is assigned an individual edition number and accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artist.

Edition numbers are recorded by Tim Hupkes.
