faux-pas-canvas-print-limited-edition
Faux Pas | Canvas Print | Limited Edition

A grand old lion gazes up in rapture at a flowering cactus, while his small cub would clearly rather be anywhere else. Released in editions of 50 or 25, every print numbered and never reprinted.

A lion with a vast, shaggy mane in rich browns tilts his head back, eyes shining and mouth curled into a delighted grin. His verdict arrives in a speech bubble big enough to fill the room: "OOOH... THAT IS SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT!!!" The object of all this admiration is a tall green cactus, bristling with pale yellow spines and crowned with purple, yellow and red blooms. Behind it, framed paintings hang along a pale wall, among them a snowy-looking scene of pine trees and rushing water.

Down by his side, a little cub with flushed pink cheeks and a pained expression sets the record straight in three quick bubbles: "JEEZ DAD YOU'RE EMBARRASSING ME", "IT'S JUST A PLANT IT'S NOT IN THE EXHIBITION!!" and "KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN!!!". The paintings on the wall go entirely unnoticed. Dad looks as if he has never been more moved in his life, and as if no amount of correcting will change his mind.

Faux Pas is part of Big, Bold & Bonkers, where big art meets bad behaviour and nobody apologises. Its cast is made up of gloriously ridiculous characters with questionable morals, oversized personalities and a rather impressive opinion of themselves, painted in bold colours with dark humour and a healthy disregard for good taste. The collection exists only as oversized limited edition canvas prints, because some nonsense deserves to be taken very seriously.

Faux Pas is available in two sizes, each produced in a strictly limited edition:

100 × 100 cm / 40 × 40 in - Worldwide edition of 50

135 × 135 cm / 53 × 53 in - Worldwide edition of just 25

Each print is assigned an individual edition number and accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artist.

Edition numbers are recorded by Tim Hupkes.
